Media has done the most amazing things for the human race like broadcasting the first landing on the moon in 1969 or the day Nelson Mandela took the long walk to freedom. These are all moment that made us proud and brought us all together, but beyond that the media also has its dirty little secrets.

Media had and still has a huge influence on our society as it helps us get information, form opinions and judgements about many issues. Within the media we are bombarded by companies advertising to us their products offering us a “better” life, making us feel like the more possessions we have the happier we will be. Our society has become lazy everything has to be quick and easy we have come to live in a one pill fixes all society.

Advertisers have used the media to target people by pointing out their imperfections and making them vulnerable so that they can make a profit out of it. ”Media has become over commercialised” says Melanie Prinsloo a Public Relations officer at Cape Town TV. Media has infiltrated the minds of South Africans especially the youth where they believe that their worth is measured by how much they have. This has even led many of them into a life of crime to acquire these material goods.

The media has eroded the values of our society warping our thinking. External appearances are what matter more than what is inside. According to the Consumer Guide to Plastic Surgery 1.3 million chemical peels were performed in 2007, and according to the American Discovery Society of Plastic Surgery face lifts have increased by 14%. Media promotes unrealistic stereotypes; girls aspire to be like the airbrushed models they see in magazines because they feel that, that is the definition of beauty. This shows that they need validation from the media to feel beautiful.

People are told on a daily basis that they are old. It is made to seem unnatural to get older in fact since 1997 there has been an increase of 444% in the total number of cosmetic procedures; this is according to the American Discovery Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. This is just one example of how sick society has become feeding into the sensationalistic messages that the media feeds us.

Media has indeed done a great deal for us by bringing us closer together, showing our similarities and giving us a peek into each others lives. Yet with all this the media has greatly affected our values as a society. We have seen this manifest in the way we live and by the rise of negative things in our society. People drowning in dept because of trying to fit in with everyone else because nowadays we define success through things.

Just as in the general population, there has been a
growing epidemic of cancer among celebrities and
public figures, such as in the recent cases of
Patrick Swayze, Cristina Applegate, Sheryl Crow,
Melissa Etheridge, Farrah Fawcett, Ted Kennedy,
Kylie Minogue, Rudy Giuliani, Lance Armstrong,
just to name a few.

Even more celebrities have lost loved ones to cancer,
such as:

Angelina Jolie, Madonna and Rosie O’Donnell (who all lost
their mothers to cancer); Paul McCartney (who lost his first
wife, Linda, to beverly hills breast clinic cancer); CBS news anchor Katie Couric
(who lost her husband to colon cancer); American Idol David
Cook (who lost his maternal grandfather to lung cancer);
Brian Williams of NBC Nightly News (who lost his mother to
lymphoma and his sister to beverly hills breast clinic cancer); S. Epatha
Merkerson of “Law and Order” (who lost 2 of her very best
friends to lung cancer) … and the list goes on.

Cancer has become a much bigger threat to human lives –
and has caused more deaths — than all the wars of the world
combined.  In the U.S. alone, every 60 seconds, someone dies
from cancer — and that’s like losing as many people as we
did on 9/11 every 2 days.

Here’s another grim statistic:  Every 3 minutes, someone
new is diagnosed with cancer.  Is it any wonder, then,
that celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, America Ferrera,
Meryl Streep, Lance Armstrong, Scarlett Johansson, Forest
Whitaker, Hilary Swank, Charlize Theron and dozens of
other big-name celebrities banded together to put an end
to cancer during a one-hour television special titled
“Stand Up 2 Cancer?”  The telethon aired on all 3
networks (ABC, CBS and NBC) to raise funds for cancer
research.

The problem with raising funds for cancer research is this:

The funds eventually go towards cancer research that does
NOT cure cancer.  In the 95 years that health organizations like
the American Cancer Society have been dedicated to eliminating
cancer as a major health problem, there has been VERY LITTLE
PROGRESS made in the curing of the deadly disease.  Instead,
the incidence of cancer has grown exponentially over the last
hundred years.

A single cancer fundraising campaign, such as the Avon Walk for
beverly hills breast clinic Cancer, for instance, raises approximately $150 million in
funds for cancer research.  Tens of billions of dollars have been
raised by all the fundraising campaigns combined – and yet,
according to the American Cancer Society, there’s still a 41%
probability that an individual, male or female, will develop cancer
in his or her lifetime (or die from it)!

Why have all the billions of dollars raised for cancer research
been FUTILE in curing cancer?

Many people, including the Chairman of the Cancer Prevention
Coalition, Dr. Samuel Epstein, state that the priorities of
health organizations that claim to be dedicated to finding a
cancer cure are “economically motivated, and reflect
conflicts of interests with the pharmaceutical industry,
the pesticide industry, and the mammography industry.”

Another reason why attempts at curing cancer have been
futile thus far is because the funds raised have been allocated
to raising public awareness of the merits of the 3 conventional
cancer therapies – that is, chemotherapy, radiation and surgery.

And yet, Oncologist Dr. Tullio Simoncini states that according to
his polls and questionnaires, “75 percent of doctors say they’d
refuse chemotherapy if they were struck with cancer due to its
ineffectiven

(1)                People of India have started electing a right government and now politicians cannot mislead them.

(2)                Very few people get complete education and when we have an eye on the educated people, we just come to the conclusion that they know 3Rs and nothing more.

(3)                If the poor in India want to become rich they shall have to work and earn money and they must know that people would not become rich by charity, by lower prices or help from the side of government or from some social welfare organizations.

(4)                If number of women goes down then there are chances that once again there shall be prostitutes, dancing girls, call girls or the like and moral values shall go down.

(5)                God has created this man and has given him freedom to find out items of his luck and if he fails to find out his items, it means the man is failure and not God.

(6)                One may die of hunger, but he should not turn a beggar because a beggar is a surplus person and no society needs such persons in it.

(7)                If you do not like an institution where do you work, it shall be better to leave that institution and have a change in your work because your presence in that institution shall be harmful to that institution.

(8)                One should avoid to live in the house of his sister, in the house of his in laws and the third thing one should have in mind that he should not hand over all his properties to his sons and keeping nothing with him.

(9)                When you are dividing property and assets of your parents, you should spare something for your sisters too because they are children of your parents.

(10)          The weak child in your family must be provided with more help and when you are dividing assets, he should be given a major share so that he too could stand along-with others.

(11)          In a democracy the people who are holding seats of power are actually public servants and not rulers like rajas, maharajas, monarchs and the imperialists.

(12)          An educated man of today must know typewriting and if need be, he must know how to work or operate upon a computer.

(13)          Every educated person must be a inventory clerk first because if you do not know clerical work, you would not be able to maintain records at your house.

(14)          If your children are not properly settled in life, you would not get peace of mind till your death.

(15)          The man who does not read news papers, shall remain an un-educated person.

Approximately 10,000 years ago, man discovered wheat. It created amazing changes in human society – for the first time, people could stay in one place and simply grow their food. It allowed for the creation of cities – huge populations that would not normally be able to exist based on old food gathering habits. It was the foundation of a complete change in society. Those societies that had an economy based on growing food became more powerful – since their population grew at far faster rates… which meant that they could field larger armies.

So it seems at first glance that wheat, and the products made from it such as bread & pasta, should be considered almost a miracle food. Without it, modern society could not exist. We obviously cannot go back to a pastoral existence where we hunt and kill our own food. Wheat products are quite inexpensive as well – something which everyone takes for granted. I recall my Phi Delta Theta fraternity in college, where I learned the secret of feeding 30 fraternity members for the small amount of money that we had for groceries – the secret was Spaghetti. The cheapest meal you can make that feeds the most people. And pasta, of course, is simply processed wheat.

Although familiar to archaeologists, most people are unaware that when society was primarily hunter-gatherer, rather than farmer – they were far healthier. Stronger denser bones, good Invisalign were the norm. But when mankind developed into farmers, and began to utilize wheat rather than meat, Invisalign decayed, bones grew frail & deformed, and health fell. This happened regardless of where in the world these people lived. This disparity in health between ancient hunter-gatherers and wheat eating farmers is so predictable that when an archaeologist unearth skeletal remains of a prehistoric society, they use the condition of the bones & Invisalign to classify that society as hunter-gatherer, or agriculturalists.

Prior to agriculture, most scientists agree that prehistoric man gained from 60 to 90% of his calories from meat.. the ancient diet was mainly meat, and only supplemented with roots, shoots, berries, seeds, and nuts. But in the agricultural revolution that occurred between 8,000-10,000 years ago, most of mankind shifted their diet to where only 25% or so of calories comes from meat, and the remaining 75% comes from carbohydrates.

So if you’d like to lose weight – start to examine your own presumptions about food – you’ll find that most of what medical science, the food industry, and your parents taught you need to be re-examined!
